Wow! I think this has been the fastest year in the history of (wo)man. I can’t believe that just one year ago, I was negotiating the contract on our little store’s space, pulling up purple carpeting and painting over the pink walls. Time flies when you’re having fun, right?? That or just working your “you-know-what” off. I am SO proud of how far Reinvented Vintage has come….from our humble beginnings in my Mother-in-Law’s garage, to a rented space in the bathroom of the Shoppes on Woodlawn, to a small studio space, to our current retail store space in Breckenridge Village….. Take a walk down memory lane with me, will ya??
So, this is what the store looked like when the real estate agent initially showed me the space. Previously, the store was occupied by the iconic Pinky Punky. Pinky Punky was a formal wear and prom dress store that was in business for over thirty years. They had a lip shaped couch when you walked in the door. It was the place to be and be seen in the 80s and 90s! And don’t you LOVE that leopard print carpeting! My husband and I ripped out all of the carpeting ourselves, took out lots of old wires, speakers, a projector and screen, and took doors off their hinges to open up the old dressing rooms. We painted the concrete floors, walls and ceiling. This is what the store looked like a few days after we opened our doors for the first time.
And this is what it looked like a few weeks later when Urban & Proud came to interview me:
And here’s what it looked like a few days ago:
The store is constantly changing. We get new things in everyday so we’re constantly moving things around. We changed our Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint display a couple of weeks ago and we’re working on a new art wall that will showcase our featured local artists.
The upstairs loft is where we hold our painting workshops and teach our customers the ins and outs of the two lines of specialty furniture paints that we retail. The workshops are great fun, everyone always learns a lot, leaves with a finished piece of furniture and the knowledge and confidence to go home and complete the other projects on their list!
Thursday night we will celebrate Reinvented Vintage’s One Year Birthday! I hope you all can join us! We will have cupcakes from Tracy Cakes (SO YUMMY!!!), champagne, a paint bar where you can play with the Maison Blanche Vintage Furniture Paint and the Milk Paint, and a photo booth. When you show us your photos posted with the #reinventedvintage you will receive a discount at checkout! Can’t wait to see you on Thursday! 5-8pm!!
